This piece was a fun one. We sat down with the customer to clearly define the requirements and any special considerations. There was a lot of artwork already displayed on the church. We needed to be sensitive to it and ensure our piece mirrored the style of the earlier pieces. We also coordinated our efforts with the engineers, ensuring a seamless process.
We cut the circular ring on a water jet. Ensuring perfection. The welding was very challenging. As any experience welding will tell you, controlling the metals desire to warp is an art. Because of the parallel lines, this project needed to be perfect. Your eye would quickly see any imperfection. On this project, we worked with the builder early in the process. The stainless steel mount was installed prior to the brick work being done.
